Turkish Citizenship for the Investor's Family
One qualifying investment can cover the investor's spouse and children. Here is who can be included, what each family member needs and how military service applies to sons.
In short
The investor's spouse and children can be included in a Turkish citizenship application on the same qualifying investment; other relatives, such as parents or siblings, need an investment of their own. The conditions for children are confirmed for each case before the file is prepared. Men who are 22 or older in the year they become Turkish citizens are deemed to have completed military service.

Who it is for
- Investors applying with a spouse
- Investors who want their children included
- Families with sons who need to understand the military service rule
- Families planning for parents or adult children, who may need a separate route
Who can be included
A Turkish citizenship by investment application is made by the investor, and the investor's spouse and children can be included in it on the same qualifying investment. The amount does not change with the size of the family: a family of five relies on the same USD 400,000 property, or the same USD 500,000 deposit, bonds, fund units or pension contract, as a single investor.
Other relatives, such as the investor's parents, brothers and sisters, are not covered by the investor's application. If they want Turkish citizenship by investment, they need a qualifying investment of their own. We plan this with families who want to bring several generations together, because the route and the timing for each person can differ.
Children
Children of the investor can be included in the application. Whether a child applies with you or needs a separate route depends on the conditions for children, in particular the age and dependency conditions. We confirm them for your case at the start, before the file is prepared, because they decide how many applications your family needs and which documents each child must provide.
Military service for sons and male family members
Men who acquire Turkish citizenship later in life are treated according to their age and education on the date of naturalisation (Military Service Law No. 7179, Article 43). They are deemed to have completed military service if either:
- they were 22 or older in the year they were naturalised; or
- they document that they served, or were deemed to have served, in their previous country.
Those who are still liable may, on request, defer service for two years from naturalisation. Paid exemption (bedelli askerlik) remains available to liable men; the amount is updated twice a year and was reported at about TRY 472,653 for the second half of 2026. This treatment applies to people who acquire citizenship later, not to those who are Turkish by descent. For a son close to the age threshold, the year of naturalisation matters, so we take it into account when we plan the timing of the file.
Documents for each family member
Every person in the application needs their own identity and civil status documents, and the family relationship must be documented. Foreign documents must be translated into Turkish and certified in a form accepted in Turkey. The exact list depends on your country, your family situation and the current practice, so we confirm the current list for your case and check each document before it is submitted. Missing or inconsistent civil status documents can delay a file.
Timeline
No official processing time is published, and no timeframe can be guaranteed. The family members included in the application follow the investor's file: the investment, the certificate, the residence permit and the citizenship application. Advisers commonly report about 3 to 6 months from filing to the decision for a complete file, and 6 to 12 months from the start of the process to the passport. See the process, documents and timeline.
Costs
The investment amount does not increase with the number of family members. Each person's documents, translations and certifications have their own costs, which depend on the country of origin. Our fees are not published: contact us for fees, questions and service scope.
Common mistakes
- Assuming that adult children, parents or siblings are covered by the investor's application.
- Starting the investment before the family's documents have been checked.
- Civil status documents with different spellings of names, or marriage and birth records that do not match.
- Not planning the timing for a son near the age of 22.
- Not checking whether your home country allows dual citizenship.

How the process works
Family plan
We list every family member and confirm who can be included in the investor's application and who needs a separate route.
Documents per person
We prepare the document list for each person, with the translations and certifications required, and check every document before it is submitted.
Investment and residence permits
The investment is made on the chosen route; after the certificate, residence permits are obtained for the investor and the family members included.
Joint citizenship application
The application is filed for the investor and the family members included; security checks run and a Presidential decision follows.
Identity cards and passports
After a positive decision, each new citizen applies for a Turkish identity card and passport.
Documents checklist
- Identity and civil status documents for each family member: we confirm the current list for your case
- Documents proving the family relationship, translated into Turkish and certified in the form required
Your full list depends on your situation; we prepare it with you.
