Turkish Green Passport and Visa-Free Schengen

Did you know that Türkiye issues two different passport types for its citizens, and one of these passports is very strong!

Everyone knows the regular Turkish passport: it is quite powerful, but still it requires Visa to enter Schengen Area.

But there’s also the Turkish Green Passport (a special passport) and it changes the travel experience in a big way as it allows visa-free travel to Schengen Area, UAE, China and Russia.

Who can get the Green Passport
• A qualifying public employee or official (and in many cases, their family members)
• A lawyer with 15+ years of professional seniority and bar registration
• A company representative of an exporting firm, through an export performance pathway

Exporter pathway (the one most entrepreneurs miss) makes the Turkish Citizenship more valuable for foreigners who run their business. When they become Turkish citizen through the Citizenship by Investment Program, they can transfer their business operations to Turkey and become eligible for the Green Turkish Passport. This will allows them to have visa-free access to Schengen countries.

Eligibility is based on the company’s average annual exports over the last 3 calendar years and it’s limited by export volume:
$500K to $10M: 1 representative
$10M to $25M: 2 representatives
$25M to $50M: 3 representatives
$50M to $100M: 4 representatives
$100M+: 5 representatives

Why I’m sharing this? In global business, mobility is leverage. It affects how often you can be on the ground, how quickly you can attend a fair and how easily you can build trust with partners.

Did you know Türkiye has two passport types like this?

Does it make sense to get Turkish Green Passport or to get EU Golden Visa such as the Greece or Portugal Program?

And does your country have a similar “special passport” system?
