For new properties and second hand real estates, the title deed transaction tax is 4% in Turkey. Title deed transaction tax is called Tapu Harcı in Turkish language. There is also title deed processing fee (Döner Sermaye Harcı in Turkish) when making title deed transaction. Additional expenses of purchasing property in Turkey are valuation report fee, power-of-attorney fee and translator’s fee. Valuation report is required to purchase a property in Turkey by foreigners. The power-of-attorney is required if the foreigner is going use another person to make signatures in Turkey such as appointing a Turkish lawyer to complete the real estate purchase. Power-of-attorney for buying property is approximately $500. And there is translator’s fee if foreigner doesn’t speak English and wants to purchase the property himself at the title deed appointment. Translators usually charge $200 for title deed purchases.
